The School Day

The school day for Base children starts at 9:05 am and finishes at 3:05 pm.

Registration: 9:05 am – 9:15 am and all classes access a movement break from 9:15 am – 9:30 am.

Assemblies

We have three whole school assemblies each week led by the head teacher or a member of the senior leadership team.

In Monday’s assembly we share our ‘word of the week’ which is linked to British values, PSHE, RE or it can be responsive linking to needs of the children.

Wednesday assemblies focus on celebrating Karate reader achievements and we also sing together. The song choices reflect our core values as well as listening to suggestions made by the children.

On Friday we have a ‘star of the week’ assembly which focuses on celebrating children’s achievements. Each ‘star of the week’ is presented with a certificate detailing their achievement and this is followed up by the Head teacher tea party. During this assembly we also celebrate attendance with points going to classes which have the best attendance. At the end of the half term the class with the highest points receives a reward.

In the Base we hold an additional celebration assembly in the Base hall, where a range of children from each class are praised. Each week the children being praised place their photos on our ‘Celebration’ display in the Base hall.

Morning Snack

Reception and KS1 children have snack time at 10:45-11 am and KS2 children have snack time at 10:30-10:45 am. During snack time we focus on developing social skills and life skills.

Morning Playtime

Reception and KS1 children have a morning break from 10:30-10:45 am.

KS2 children have a morning break from 10:45-11 am.

Lunch Time

Reception and KS1 children’s lunch is at 12-12:30 am and KS2 at 12:30-1 pm.  Lunch time ends at 1 pm for all children.

Afternoon Playtime

Classes access an afternoon play when needed.

Home Time

School finishes at 3:05 pm for all children in the Base which is a total of 6 hours a day.

Drop off and Collection

Children being dropped off and picked up by parents should access school via the top gate near the shops car park, off Lichfield Way. Access to the Base is via the KS1 entrance off the main school yard.

Children travelling in by taxi will access school via the school car park entrance. Children will be collected from the taxi by a member of staff from the child’s class.

Getting to school

All children should access school via the top gate near the shops car park, off Lichfield Way. Children and adults should not use the car park entrance as it is used by heavy goods vehicles and taxis. The car park at Fellgate Primary School is for staff only.

From 8.50am to 9.10am taxis drop off our base children. We understand that at times you may be late for school due to unforeseen circumstances, and need to use the main entrance to drop off your children but we ask you to use the parking bays between the times of 8.50am and 9.10am to ensure the safety for all.

If you are attending breakfast club you will need to use the main entrance via the school car park. During this time there will be no taxis entering the car park. All children attending after school clubs need to be collected from the main school yard.

The school gates are locked at 9:15 am. Once locked, the gates will not be opened and your child must report to the main office. Lateness is monitored by the school.
