The School Day

The school day starts at 8:45 am. Staff are available on the school playground from 8:40 am.

Assemblies

We have three whole school assemblies each week led by the head teacher or a member of the senior leadership team.

In Monday’s assembly we share our ‘word of the week’ which is linked to British values, PSHE, RE or it can be responsive linking to the needs of the children.

Wednesday assemblies focus on celebrating Karate reader achievements and we also sing together. The song choices reflect our core values as well as listening to suggestions made by the children.

On Friday we have a ‘star of the week’ assembly which focuses on celebrating children’s achievements. Each ‘star of the week’ is presented with a certificate detailing their achievement and this is followed up by the Head teacher tea party. During this assembly we also celebrate attendance with points going to classes which have the best attendance. At the end of the half term the class with the highest points receives a reward.

Morning Playtime

Key Stage 1 Children have a morning break from 10.30-10:45 am

Key Stage 2 Children have a morning break from 10:45-11.00 am

Lunch Time

Lunch break starts at 12pm till 12:50pm and dinners are staggered over this time. Those children not in the dinner hall have play time. Lunch time ends at 12:50pm for all children, ready for whole school mindfulness from 12:50-1pm.

Afternoon Playtime

Classes access an afternoon play when needed.

Home Time

School finishes at 3:15 pm for all children in main school which is a total of 6 1/2 hours a day, this equates to 32.5 hours a week.

Drop off and Collection

At the beginning of the school day all children should be in the school playground for 8:40 am to ensure that they are in school for 8:45 am. All children in Reception, KS1 and years 3 and 4 must be taken to and collected from school by an adult. If normal arrangements have to be altered (e.g. you are delayed or another person is collecting your child) please let us know. This avoids any confusion or upset. We would remind parents that we do not allow smoking on school premises when bringing and collecting children, and that dogs are not permitted on the school grounds.

Getting to school

All children should access school via the top gate near the shops car park, off Lichfield Way. Children and adults should not use the car park entrance as it is used by heavy goods vehicles and taxis. The car park at Fellgate Primary School is for staff only.

From 8.50am to 9.10am taxis drop off our base children. We understand that at times you may be late for school due to unforeseen circumstances, and need to use the main entrance to drop off your children but we ask you to use the parking bays between the times of 8.50am and 9.10am to ensure the safety for all.

If you are attending breakfast club you will need to use the main entrance via the school car park. During this time there will be no taxis entering the car park. All children attending after school clubs need to be collected from the main school yard.

The school gates are locked at 9:15 am. Once locked, the gates will not be opened and your child must report to the main office. Lateness is monitored by the school.
